About

I am a proofreader, copyeditor and writer originally from Toronto, Canada but I now live in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

After receiving my BA (Hons) in English Literature from the University of Guelph (Guelph, Canada), I studied journalism at George Brown College (Toronto, Canada) and received a certificate in editing which included coursework on grammar, proofreading, copyediting and substantive editing.

For more than 10 years I have provided writing, copyediting and proofreading services both in-house and freelance. Along with working in publishing at one of Canada’s daily newspapers (24 Hours), an online magazine (the now-defunct Business without Borders) and a magazine/catalogue (Vintages), I have also worked in marketing/communications at non-profit agencies (Legal Aid Ontario, Partners for Planning) and a charity (Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto).

My freelance proofreading projects include reviewing articles slated for publication, marketing collateral, small business websites and print materials, self-published novels and academic writing.

The move from Toronto to Leeds was a big one, but I’m a bit of an Anglophile so I am enjoying life in Leeds immensely. I also love how close it is to the beautiful Yorkshire countryside, as well as London and the rest of Europe. Recent posts from my food and travel blog, Champagne Minimalist, appear on the right-hand side of the page if you’d like to learn more about my adventures.
