About

I am a proofreader, copyeditor and writer originally from Toronto, Canada but I now live in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

After receiving my BA (Hons) in English Literature from the University of Guelph (Guelph, Canada), I studied journalism at George Brown College (Toronto, Canada) and received a certificate in editing, which included coursework on grammar, proofreading, copyediting and substantive editing.

For more than 10 years I have provided writing, copyediting and proofreading services both in-house and freelance. Along with working in publishing at one of Canada’s daily newspapers (24 Hours), an online magazine (the now-defunct Business without Borders) and a magazine/catalogue (Vintages), I have also worked in marketing/communications at non-profit agencies (Legal Aid Ontario, Partners for Planning) and a charity (Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto).

My freelance proofreading projects include reviewing articles slated for publication, marketing collateral, small business websites, print materials and self-published novels. I am also writing and editing web content for a leading food delivery services blog.

The move from Toronto to Leeds was a big one, but I’m a bit of an Anglophile so I am really enjoying life in Leeds. I also love how close I am to Yorkshire’s stunning countryside, as well as London and the rest of Europe. Recent posts from my food and travel blog, Champagne Minimalist, appear on the right-hand side of the page if you’d like to learn more about my adventures.
